Ellen Sheridan

Child Psychologist

Ellen is a Registered Psychologist practising at the Quirky Kid clinic in Woollahra. She has 14 years experience in primary and secondary education as both a teacher and a School Psychologist, most recently in Canberra serving multiple public schools.

She is experienced in conducting and reporting on a wide range of different assessments, including assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Specific Learning Disorders, Intellectual Disability, giftedness, behavioural issues, and mental health concerns. Her experience working with schools means that, when writing reports, Ellen is proficient in analysing data and suggesting achievable recommendations to implement.

Ellen is also trained in delivering evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). She uses creativity to engage clients, exploring issues such as depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, ADHD, learning difficulties, perfectionism, behaviour challenges, and navigating social relationships.

Her overall goal in therapy is to help young people strengthen their resilience, so that they develop the capacity to both respect others and follow their personal values whenever they encounter setbacks.

Qualifications:

Ellen has a double degree in Arts/Education (BA/BEd) from Monash University and was awarded a place on the Dean's Honour List for Excellence in Education in 2008. In 2014, she completed a graduate diploma in Psychological Science at the University of Melbourne, followed by Honours in Psychology at Federation University in 2015.

In 2020, Ellen completed her internship pathway towards general registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Regulation Board.

Professional Memberships:

Ellen is a member of the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA), an active member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), and has a current Working with Children's Check. She is also fully vaccinated for COVID and holds a current first aid certificate.
