FOR PARENTS | CHILD PSYCHOLOGIST WOOLLAHRA

Child Psychologists in Woollahra, Sydney

When your child is struggling, you want more than a list of symptoms. You want a team that understands the whole child and gives your family a clear way forward. Quirky Kid Woollahra supports children, adolescents and families from our established clinic at Level 1, Unit 2, 83–85 Queen Street in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.

Families can access consultations, psychological therapy, parent support and child assessments. These services are brought together in one connected clinic. We begin by understanding your child’s strengths, the concerns bringing you in and what has already been tried, then recommend the most useful next step.

Appointments are available Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 6.00 pm. The clinic is convenient for families across Woollahra, Paddington, Bondi Junction and the wider Eastern Suburbs. The Level 1 clinic currently requires stair access. Contact us before booking to discuss telehealth or another suitable option if step-free access is required.

Child Psychology Services in Woollahra

Our psychologists work with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, behaviour concerns, low confidence, friendship difficulties, developmental differences, attention or learning needs. Support is practical, collaborative and shaped around meaningful goals for home, school and daily life.

Consultations and psychological therapy help families make sense of concerns and build practical strategies matched to the child’s age, strengths and goals.

Early intervention brings together parent guidance, play-based strategies and, when helpful, collaboration with early learning or school settings.

Assessment pathways explore questions about development, autism, attention, cognition, learning, behaviour or emotional functioning. We select measures for the referral question and interpret results within the whole clinical picture.

• With consent, we can collaborate with parents, educators and other professionals so recommendations are clear, realistic and useful across home and school.

Our Woollahra clinic welcomes families from Woollahra, Paddington, Bondi Junction, Edgecliff, Double Bay, Bellevue Hill, Bondi, Centennial Park, Randwick and nearby Sydney suburbs.

Edgecliff Station is about a 15-minute walk away. Nearby buses stop around Moncur Street and Queen Street, with restricted street parking available nearby.

  • Flexible, Inclusive Support

Tell us about communication, sensory, cultural or access needs when booking so we can plan a more comfortable appointment. Secure telehealth may be available when clinically suitable.

Child Psychology FAQs for Woollahra and Sydney

How much does a child psychologist appointment cost?

Arrow Down

Psychologist appointments range from $286 to $598 per hour. The exact fee depends on the psychologist, service and appointment length. Assessment costs vary because the scope and measures are selected for the referral question; we confirm the proposed pathway and fees before an assessment proceeds. Group program fees are separate. See the current fee schedule.

Do I need a referral, and can Medicare or NDIS funding apply?

Arrow Down

You do not need a referral to book privately. Medicare rebates may apply to eligible psychological treatment with a participating psychologist when your child has a valid referral, such as through a Mental Health Treatment Plan or a referral from a paediatrician or psychiatrist. Medicare generally does not cover standalone psychological assessments. Quirky Kid is an NDIS registered provider; whether NDIS funding can be used depends on your child’s plan, goals, funding management and the service requested. Please send referral or plan details before the first appointment so our team can check the pathway.

How do I know which service or psychologist is right for my child?

Arrow Down

You do not need to decide alone. Start with a parent consultation or contact our reception team. We will consider your child’s age, strengths, concerns, goals, previous support and whether the next step is psychological therapy, parent support, early intervention or an assessment. We then recommend an appropriate Woollahra psychologist based on clinical fit, scope and availability. If a different service or clinician would better meet your child’s needs, we will explain that clearly.

Who should attend the first child psychology consultation?

Arrow Down

Most families begin with a parent or carer consultation. This lets you discuss developmental history, current concerns, family context and goals openly before we decide how to involve your child. Depending on your child’s age, the service requested and the clinical question, your psychologist may recommend that your child attends part or all of the first appointment, or a separate child session. Your booking confirmation will explain what to prepare and who should attend. Tell us before the appointment about separated-parent arrangements or court orders so consent and information-sharing requirements can be clarified.

Is telehealth available for children and parents?

Arrow Down

Yes. Secure telehealth is available for many parent consultations and some child or adolescent therapy appointments when clinically suitable. Suitability depends on your child’s age, goals, engagement, privacy and safety at home. Some assessments and interventions require in-person attendance because standardised testing conditions or direct observation are important. Our team can help you decide whether telehealth, an appointment at our Woollahra clinic or a combination is most appropriate.

Where is the Woollahra clinic, and is it accessible by public transport?
