Quirky Kid launched BriteChild®, a digital psychology service developed to extend child and family mental health support beyond the limits of traditional clinic-based care.
BriteChild grew from Quirky Kid’s experience supporting children and families through psychology consultations, parent guidance, educational programs and therapeutic resources. The digital model was developed to make professional support easier to access when barriers such as geography, availability and travel make in-person care more difficult.
The project received significant external backing before launch. In 2022, Quirky Kid was awarded $200,000 through the Australian Government’s Boosting Female Founders Initiative for a project formally titled Britechild: Smart Digital Mental Health Platform for Children and Parents.
The Australian Government’s official recipient record describes BriteChild as a digital child psychology clinic focused on personalised, child-centred mental health and wellbeing intervention, early support and reducing barriers such as wait times and location.
Taking Quirky Kid psychology online
The launch marked an important shift in Quirky Kid’s service model. Instead of treating digital delivery as simply a video version of a clinic appointment, BriteChild was developed as a dedicated pathway for online psychology support, practical guidance and ongoing access to child-development expertise.
This built on Quirky Kid’s longer history of providing remote consultations while creating a clearer digital service designed specifically for children, young people and families.
From innovation project to an established Quirky Kid service
BriteChild continued to develop after its initial launch. The business name Britechild was formally registered to Quirky Kid Pty Ltd in February 2024, providing a further public record of the service within the Quirky Kid organisation.
The Australian Business Register currently lists both Quirky Kid and Britechild as registered business names of Quirky Kid Pty Ltd.
The service has since evolved into Quirky Kid’s dedicated online psychology pathway, complementing the organisation’s face-to-face clinics, outreach work and school-based programs.

Quirky Kid continues to grow, develop and evolve. As a result, we have new positions for child psychologists and a mental health clinician (Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Nursing or Psychologist) who shares Quirky Kid’s passion for working with children – Together, amazing things happen.
Building on government-backed development
The BriteChild launch sits within a longer sequence of investment in Quirky Kid’s capacity to scale its social impact. Earlier support included the Australian Government’s Sector Readiness Fund, followed by the Boosting Female Founders grant that specifically supported BriteChild’s development.
