Laura Wheatley

Provisional Psychologist

Laura Wheatley is a Provisional Psychologist at the Quirky Kid Clinic in Sydney. Laura is passionate about early intervention and supporting children and adolescents to thrive.

Laura works with our clinical team to provide psychological assessments, complete clinical formulations and treatments to children aged 2 to 18 years and their families.
Laura has experience working with children with a range of presentations, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders and behavioural difficulties.

Laura has received training in the administration, scoring and interpretation of psychometric assessments. She provides high-quality, evidence-based, client-focused psychological services to support clients and their families to achieve their goals.

Prior to joining Quirky Kid, Laura has worked with children in a variety of settings and roles, including tutoring and also as a psychosocial support worker in the disability sector. During her time as a support worker, Laura specialised in supporting children who were experiencing psychological and neurodevelopmental challenges to develop their skills, achieve their goals and engage in activities that they enjoy.

Laura loves getting creative, especially drawing, painting and using arts and crafts. Outside of work she enjoys reading, hiking and going to the beach.

Qualifications

Laura is accredited with a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours Class I) from the University of Wollongong and is a member of The Australian Psychological Society (APS).

She holds Provisional Registration with the Australian Psychology Board (AHPRA) and is under the supervision of Dr Kimberley O'Brien.
